Create your account
Sign in or sign up for openJII with an email code, GitHub, or ORCID. One account works on both the web platform and the mobile app.
You need one openJII account to use the web platform and the mobile app. There is no separate sign-up: the same screen handles logging in and creating a new account.
Ways to sign in
On the Log in or sign up screen you have three options:
- Email — we send a 6-digit code to your email. No password to remember.
- GitHub — sign in with your GitHub account.
- ORCID — sign in with your ORCID account, so your work stays linked to your academic identity.

Whichever option you choose the first time becomes your account. Use the same option each time you sign in.
Sign up with an email code
Open the sign-in screen
Go to the openJII web platform and select Log in or sign up.
Enter your email
Type your email address and select Continue with Email. We send a 6-digit code to that address.
Enter the code
Open the email, copy the 6-digit code, and enter it on the screen. If the code does not arrive within a minute, you can request a new one.
Complete your profile
The first time you sign in, we ask for a few details to finish creating your account:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Accept the terms and conditions
Select Register to finish. After that you go straight to your dashboard each time you sign in.
Sign up with GitHub or ORCID
Select Continue with GitHub or Continue with ORCID and approve the sign-in with that provider. The first time, you may still be asked to complete your profile (first and last name).
If your provider does not share an email address with openJII (this can happen with ORCID), we ask you to add one so features like project transfers can reach you.
One account, web and mobile
Your openJII account works on both the web platform and the mobile app. Sign in to the app with the same option you use on the web.
Signing in to the mobile app by email? You enter your email in the app, then read the 6-digit code from your inbox on any device and type it into the app. You do not need your email inbox on the phone itself.
Next step
With your account ready, follow the quick start to create your first experiment and take a measurement.
Quick start: your first measurement
The end-to-end happy path: create an experiment on the web, take one MultispeQ measurement on the mobile app, and see it appear in your data.
